1. You’re thrown into a new environment and are forced to navigate.

A new school means a new campus. Which means you have literally no idea where you’re going and you’re only guide is the pamphlet map given to you by the admissions office.

2. Your new friends, at first, seem to only be your professors.

They’re the ones that first mutter your name on the attendance list, welcoming you to school. Their approval solidifies not only the welfare of your grades but also lines up possibilities for recommendations.

3. You get a little tired of introducing yourself.

Yes, while where you hail from is important, you tend to get sick of saying the same basic details about yourself that most people will forget within the first few seconds of meeting you.

4. You may experience some new rituals.

Colleges whether big or small are all about tradition. It’s safe to say that wherever you go, you’ll have to assimilate yourself into your new school’s culture whether it be running a 5k in your underwear or jumping into a frozen lake.

5. You stake out the best places to eat on campus and frequent them constantly.

New school equals new food. Campuses have all different kinds of cafes, coffee bars, and restaurants for their students to enjoy and it’s easy to fall in love with them. And the mac n’ cheese.

6. You may get stressed.

Being a full-time student isn’t easy no matter where you go. You’ll remember the familiar feeling of stress due to deadlines, projects, and homework. You may get overwhelmed which is completely natural.

7. There are a ton of clubs and organizations join.

Clubs are fantastic. They introduce you to new people who all enjoy the same thing. Even if there isn’t a club that caters to your specific interest, you’ll most likely be able to create it yourself and invite others to join.

8. You meet new friends that help you miss the old ones a bit less.

Once you leave your old school, you’ll miss the people you spent most of your time with. However, new friends lead to new experiences and you’ll be able to add to your collection of amazing people you choose to hang out with.

9. You soon hear about the usual drama that circulates the hallways.
