A lift in a mine moves down 24 m in 87 mins. If it moves in uniform rate, find at what distance below the surface, it will be after 6 mins. If the lift starts from a height 10 m above the ground, find now deep the lift will go from the surface after 70 mins.

Answer:

After 6 minutes, the lift will be 1.68 m below.

After 70 minutes, the lift will be 9.60 m deep from the surface.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that the lift moves down 24 m in 87 minutes.

So speed of the lift = Distance/time

                                =24/87

                                = 0.28 m/minute.

Distance covered by lift after 6 minutes = 0. 28 * 6

                                                                  = 1.68 m

When the lift starts from the height of 10 m, time taken for touching the ground = 10/ 0.28

            = 35.71 min

Remaining time left = 70 - 35.71 = 34.29 min.

Distance travelled by lift from the surface after 70 minutes = 0.28 * 34.29 =9.60 m deep.
