A lift is moving up with an acceleration equal to 1/5 of that due to gravity. The apparent weight of a 60kg man standing in the lift is how much ?

N→ Apparent weight

N - mg = m(g-a)
N - 60(g) = 60[g-(g/5)]
N - 60(10) = 60[10-(10/5)]
N - 600 = 60(10-2)
N - 600 = 480
N = 1080
