The acceleration due to gravity with respect to the lift will be = 10-3=7 m/s².

so, apparent weight = 5×7=35N

Normal force : N
Acc. to ques , N-mg = ma
N = m(a+g)
Note : acceleration is -ve i.e. -3m/s²
N = 5(-3+9.8) = 34N
Apparent weight = N = 34N

Yurashi: 35 N is correct one
Light1729: That's at g=10m/s² (which I took)
Light1729: His answer is also correct
Light1729: for g=9.8m/s²

Yurashi: ok...thanks
