A lift of hight 3 meter is moving up with an accerelation of 2 m/ s^2. A ball is dropped from the lift top when it is moving with a speed of 5m/ s. At what time ball touch the lift floor?

Given s= 3m

a= 2m/s2

u= 8m/s

g= 10m/s2

using the kinematical equation

s= ut + ½ at2

or s= ut + ½ (a + g) t2/2

3 = 8 x t + ½ x 12 x t2

Or

6t2 + 8t -3 = 0

t= 0.3052 s
