A lift with a mass of 2000kg moves upwards at a constant velocity of 2 m/s for 60s. What is the resultant force acting on the lift?

a. 240,000N
b. 4,000N
c. 66.7N
d. 0N

Since the lift is moving with a constant velocity no acceleration is produced as acceleration is rate of change of velocity but here velocity is constant.

Thus

a = 0

As force is the product of mass and acceleration

Thus

F = ma = 2000 × 0 = 0 N
