a light and heavy object have same momentum .find out the ratio of their kinetic energywhich on has larger kinetic energy(frm this,it is obvios that light object wud posses more kinetic energy but ratio means, doesnt it require magnitude so pls help(3 mark questn))

Let the mass of the lighter object be m1 and mass of heavier object be m2. The K.E. of body of mass m1 will be (m1v)²/2m1 and K.E. of the body of mass m2will be (m2v)²/2m2. Since the momentum is same the K.E. will also be same and radio will be m2:m1.
hope this helps you......

let the Vand M of the light object.

let the m and v of the heavy object.

so,

mv=MV (as the momentum is same)

kinetic energy of light object is =1/2MV^2

and

kinetic energy of heavy object is=1/2mv^2

so the ratio of their kinetic energy is=

1/2MV^2/1/2mv^2

=M/m

so, M is grater than m M>m

hence the kinetic energy of light object is larger than the heavy object.

hope it helps you
