If one of the objects has a larger mass, then to attain the same momentum as the lighter object, it should acquire a lesser velocity. Whereas, the lighter object would need more velocity.
Since, the lighter object has more velocity, it's kinetic energy is greater.
Note:
K.E. also depends on mass, but it is linearly proportional to mass whereas it is proportional to the square of velocity, so a greater velocity would lead to a greater kinetic energy.
