A light ray incidents on an equilateral triangle with an angle of 30° , find the angle of deviation of emergent light ray if the angle of emergence of second surface is 70° .

Angle of incidence (i1) = 30°

Angle of emergence (i2) = 70°

Angle of prism (A) =60°

Since it is an equilateral prism ,

i1 + i2 = A+d

d = i1 + i2*

** d = 70° + 30° = 60°

**Angle of deviation (d) = 40°
