The correct option is 0.42 cm

Explanation:

Lateral displacement is given by

            x=  tsin(i−r) /cosr

Now using Snell's law, we get

            1×sini=μ×sinr

note : sin r= 1/√2+1/√2+1/√2

since, r=30°

Hence, x=  (√2 x sin (45° -30°  ))/cos30°

Thus,

x = √2 x ((√3-1)/2√2)/(√3/2)

This give, x = 0.42 cm
