A line intersects the y axis and x axis at the points P and Q respectively . If ( 2 ,-5 ) is the mid point of PQ , then find the coordinates of P and Q .

    Applying mid-point theorem on both points , we can write

    m =( x / 2 )    ,  n =( y / 2 )

    Hence, x/2 = 2

              x = 4;

   similarly, y/2 = -5

               y = -10;

Hence, the two points are : P( 4 , 0 ) and Q( 0 , -10 ).
