A line intersects the y-axis and x-axis at the points p and q respectively. If (2, 5) is the mid-point of pq, then find the coordinates of p and q.

Heya User,

→ Line Cuts x-axis and y-axis 

=> Intercepts are : P( x , 0 ) ; Q( 0 , y )

→ Applying mid-point theorem on both points, 

    -> ( x / 2 ) = 2    ;   ( y / 2 ) = -5

   =>     x = 4         ;        y     = -10

Hence, the two points are : P( 4 , 0 ) and Q( 0 , -10 )
