A line parallel to a triangle's side splits AB into lengths of x - 5 and x + 2. The other side, AC, is split into lengths of x and x + 12. What is the length of AC?

x-5/x+2 = x/x+12

cross multiplication

->x²+7x-60 = x² + 2x

-> 5x = 60

-> x= 12

so length of AC = x+(x+12) = 2x + 12 = 36.
