Given :

  • Length of Line Segment = 76 cm
  • Divided in ratio = 5:3

 \\ \\

To Find :

  • Length of Larger part

 \\ \qquad{\rule{200pt}{2pt}}

SolutioN :

 \dag Let the Ratios :

  • Smaller Part = 3y
  • Larger Part = 5y

 \\ \\

 \dag Calculating the Value of y :

 {\longmapsto{\qquad{\sf{ Smaller \; Part + Longer \; Part = 76 }}}} \\ \\ \\ \\ \ {\longmapsto{\qquad{\sf{ 3y + 5y = 76 }}}} \\ \\ \\ \\ \ {\longmapsto{\qquad{\sf{ 8y = 76 }}}} \\ \\ \\ \\ \ {\longmapsto{\qquad{\sf{ y = \dfrac{76}{8} }}}} \\ \\ \\ \\ \ {\longmapsto{\qquad{\sf{ y = \cancel\dfrac{76}{8} }}}} \\ \\ \\ \\ \ {\qquad \; \; {\longmapsto \; {\pmb{\underline{\boxed{\red{\frak{ y = 9.5 }}}}}}}}

 \\ \\

 \dag Calculating the Segments :

  • Longer Segment = 5y = 5(9.5) = 47.5 cm
  • Smaller Segment = 3y = 3(9.5) = 28.5 cm

 \\ \\

 \therefore \; The longer Segment is 47.5 cm .

QUESTION:-

A line segment of length 76cm is divided into two parts in the ratio 5:3 . What is the length of the larger part?

ANSWER:-

Let the Ratios be :-

• Smaller Part = 3y

• Larger Part = 5y

Calculating the Value of y:-

=> Smaller Part+Longer Part = 76

=> 3y + 5y76

=> 8y = 76

=> y = 76 / 8

=> y = 9.5 (ans)
