A liquid has a fixed volume but not a fixed shape .why

Because if we put some water in a pot. Its volume does not change it remains same. But if we put it into spherical pot it will be spherical and if we put it into cylindrical so it's shape depends on shape of pot

A liquid have not a fixed shape because it's molecules or atoms are not close to each other and have less intermolecular force of attraction this enables the molecules to move freely within the given space that's why it doesn't have fixed shape . Hope this may help
