The Reynolds number is 1000.

  • Reynolds number (Re) is used to find whether the flow of fluid is steady or turbulent.

                            Re=ρ×V×L/μ

     Where,             ρ=Density of fluid

                              V=Velocity

                              L=Length/diameter of tube

                             μ= viscosity of fluid

  • If Re<2000,the flow is laminar.

  • If Re>4000,flow is turbulent.

  • If 2000<Re<4000,flow is transition.

  • Here given,

                       ρ=10³Kg/m³

                       μ=8×10⁻²

                       r=2 cm=2×10⁻²m (diameter=2r=4×10⁻²m)

                        v=2 m/s

        then, Re=(10³×2×4×10⁻²)÷8×10⁻²

                     =1000

  • Here Re=1000.Hence flow is laminar.
