Answer:

Explanation:

=> Here, it is given that,

Refractive index of a liquid, μ = 1.5

Height, h = 20 cm = 0.20 m

Area of the circular base = ?

=> μ = 1 / sin C

sin C = 1 / μ

cos C = √1 - 1/μ²

tan C = 1 / √μ²-1

But According to the diagram, tan C = r/h

r = h tan C

= h / √μ²-1

=> Area of the circular base = π*r²

=  π * (h / √μ²-1)²

= π * h² / μ²-1

= π * (0.20)² / 1.5² - 1

= 3.14 * 0.04 / 2.25 - 1

= 0.1256 / 1.25

= 0.10048m²

≈ 0.1 m²

Thus, the area of the circular base is 0.1 m².
