Given : At the ground floor A, B, C whose weights are in increasing AP with  an average weight of 62 kg enter the lift. When the lift stops at 3rd floor E, F and G whose weights  are in an increasing AP enter the lift. The new average weight of people in the lift becomes 66 kg.

To Find : What is the weight of F?

Solution:

A  , B , C weight in AP

a-d , a , a + d   = 3a

average = a = 62

Weight of three = 3 * 62  = 186 kg

E, F and G   weights  are in an increasing AP

b- d , b , b + d

= 3b

Total weight = 186 + 3b

new average weight of people in the lift becomes 66 kg

Weight = 66 * 6  = 396  kg

186 + 3b = 396

=> 3b = 210

=> b = 70

Weight of F is 70 kg
