Given:

Load = 120N

Distance travelled by load = 200mm

Effort = 20N

Distance travelled by effort = 1.5m

To find:

Efficiency of machine

Solution:

firstly, find the velocity ratio, formula used is -

  V R = \frac{E_d}{L_d}

here, E_d = distance travelled by effort (1.5m)

         L_d = distance travelled by load (0.2m)

so, putting all the values we get,

      V R =\frac{1.5}{0.2}

     V R = 7.5

and to find mechanical advantage, formula used is-

 M A = \frac{load_d}{effort_d}

here, load_d = 120N

         effort_d = 20N

 M A = \frac{120}{20}

M A = 6

Now, the efficiency can be calculated as,

   efficiency  = \frac{M A }{V R} \times 100

                    = \frac{6}{7.5} \times 100

                    = 80%

Therefore, efficiency of the machine will be 80%.
