=> tan α = 0.593

=> cosβ = 0.9
=> β = cos⁻¹(0.9)
=> β = 25.84°
=> tan β = 0.484
reactive power delivered by shunt capacitors to increase power factor to 0.9 lagging = 15(0.593 - 0.484)
= 15(0.109)
= 1.635 VAR
