The Wallabies are set to field the tallest player at the Rugby World Cup 2019 in Japan in lock Rory Arnold.
At 2.08 metres has two centimetres on the Springboks baby-faced behemoth Lood de Jager.
Arnold forms half of a lock pairing noted as the tallest in the history of Australian rugby with his locking partner Adam Coleman measuring 2.04 metres tall.

The 29-year-old Arnold was first capped by Australia in 2016, three years after stirring up controversy during a stint in the Currie Cup in South Africa with Griquas. Arnold was accused of biting a defender in the process of scoring a try and was suspended but the decision was later overturned.
Arnold is tied with former Springbok Andries Bekker as the second-tallest men to ever play in Super Rugby behind Cheetahs lock JP du Preez. Du Preez has not played international rugby.

Ireland lock Devin Toner is the tallest player recently active in Test rugby but missed out on Joe Schmidt’s squad for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. He is an incredible 2,1 metres tall but simply couldn’t perform the role his coach needed to fill. Toner is the tallest player to over play at the Rugby World Cup.

South African-born Irish lock Jean Kleyn stands out at the tallest member of the Ireland squad at 2,03m although Leinster lock James Ryan matches the former Stormers man’s ample height.
The All Blacks tallest player, Brodie Retallick, is unlikely to be fit for the opening match against the Springboks who have not deployed their second-tallest man, De Jager.

The Boks have included man-mountain RG Snyman on the bench. Snyman is the second-tallest player at Rugby World Cup 2019 standing 2,07 metres tall. The Springboks will start the match with their two shortest locks, although at 2,03 metres tall Eben Etzebeth is hardly tiny.
In the group stages the Springboks should hold an advantage over Canada, Italy and neighbours Namibia. Nambia’s vice-captain Tijiuee Uanivi is their tallest player at just over 2 metres.
