Answer:

A belt is a loop that is used to link two or more rotating shafts(pulley),mechanically.

In a two pulley system, the bely may be used to direct the pulley i the same direction,or the belt may be crossed so as to drive the pulleys in opposite directions.

Generally,a smaller pulley rotates faster than a larger puller, but in the occasion were the pulley is more than one,the smaller pulley rotates faster than all th others, but in the opposite direction.

There are various types of belts, which include the following:

1.Flat belt

2.Round belt

3.V belt

4.Toothed belt.

Belts transfer motion from one pulley to another.

Belts are efficient due to the following reasons:

1.Belts produces less or no noise in the factories where they're used thus reducing noise pollution.

2.Belts drive are simple and cheap to acquire.

3.Belts are shock absorbents and load fluctuates.

4.Belts need minimal lubrication and low maintenance, thus saving on costs.
