depth of pond= BC = x
bd= 10
cd = x+2

In Δbcd
cd² =bc² + bd²
(x+2)² = x² +10²

∴ x = 24

here CA=CD
Do you people know why?
it is just according to the given question
it is given that the stem CA fell 10 cm away from it's original position .therefore the stem CA completely merges 10 cm away from it and hence we know marked the stem as CD
