Explanation:

low frequency sound:

a. Infrasound, sometimes referred to as low-frequency sound, describes sound waves with a frequency below the lower limit of audibility (generally 20 Hz). Hearing becomes gradually less sensitive as frequency decreases, so for humans to perceive infrasound, the sound pressure must be sufficiently high.

High frequency sound

b. High frequency sound is sound of which the frequency lies between 8 and 20 kHz. High frequency sound with a frequency over 16 kHz can hardly be heard, but it is not completely inaudible. High frequency sound and even ultrasound in the lower frequency zone (up to 24 kHz) can be audible if the sound level is high enough.

Which characteristic of sound is related with the frequency of vibration?

C. The frequency of a sound wave is what your ear understands as pitch. A higher frequency sound has a higher pitch, and a lower frequency sound has a lower pitch. In Figure 10.2 sound A has a higher pitch than sound B.

d. the rate at which something occurs over a particular period of time or in a given sample.

e. Hertz

f. Frequency, f, is how many cycles of an oscillation occur per second and is measured in cycles per second or hertz (Hz). The period of a wave, T, is the amount of time it takes a wave to vibrate one full cycle. These two terms are inversely proportional to each other: f = 1/T and T = 1/f.
