A Lyuis loves 14 km in 2-hours. What is the speed of the cyclist?

speed = distance/time

distance = 14km, time = 2 hours

speed = 14/2 = 7km/hr

the speed of the cyclist is 7km/h

A car is travelling with a speed of 502/5 km/h. How much time willl it take to travel the distance of 200 km  100 m?

speed = 502/5 km/h

200km 100m = 200.1 km

therefore from the data,  502/5 kms  = 1 hour

                                            200.1 km     = x hours

by cross multiplication we have, x = (200.1 * 1) / (502/5 )

                                                         x = (200.1)/(100.4)

                                                         x = 2001/1004   {multiplying by 10 on numerator and denominator}

                                                         x = 1.993 hrs

the car will take approximately 2 hours to cover the distance
