A machine is sold by A to B at a profit of 10% and then B sold it to C at a profit of 20%. If C paid a 1200 for the machine, what amount was paid by A to purchase the machine?

Explanation

let A bought it for 100x rs .

he sold it to B at 10% profit means 110x rs

now B sold it at 20 % profit means

110x+20x = 130x and C paid 1200 means

130x = 1200

the value of X is 1200÷130 = 9.23

and we assumed that A bought it for 100X so

putting the value of X in 100X we get

100× 9.23 = 923 rs .
