Given:-

→ Mass of the body = 500kg

→ Height to which it is lifted = 10m

→ Time taken = 25secs

→ Acceleration due to gravity = 10m/

To find:-

→ Power of the machine

Solution:-

We know that :-

∵ Power = Energy/Time

Power = mgh/t

Where:-

m is mass of the body.

g is acceleration due to gravity.

h is the height.

t is time taken.

=> Power = 500×10×10/25

=> Power = 20×100

=> Power = 2000 W

Thus, power of the machine is 2000 W.

Some Extra Information:-

• Power of a machine is defined as the

rate of work done by a machine.

• Power is a scalar quantity.

• S.I. unit of power is watt(W). Another

unit of power is horse power (HP).

[ 1HP = 746 W]
