GIVEN :

A machine manufactures aluminum cans which create 100 cans in 2 minutes, 200 cans in 3 minutes, 300 cans in 4 minutes.

TO FIND:

Rate of can production by machine.

SOLUTION :

◆ There are two cases ,

Either can is inactive for the first 1 minute , and after the first minute rate of production of cans is 100 cans per minute.

No of cans = ( t - 1)dn/dt

t - time,

dn/dt - rate of production of cans

= 100 cans / minute

◆ 2nd case,

Rate of can production in first two minute is 50 cans / per minute ,after two minute it increases to 100cans / minute.

Number of cans

= 50 (t1 +t2) + 100 × (t3 + ...tn ).

Hence the solution.
