a magazine have 60 pages of which 7/12 are for advertising,4/15 have only photographs on them and the rest are for articles and stories. how many pages have articles and stories on them ?

answer is 9
 \frac{7}{12}
when multiplied the division turns to
 \frac{35}{60}
therefore we can say that 35 pages are of advertising and
 \frac{16}{60}
and 16 pages of photographs
therefore total no of articles are 60-(16+35)
= 60-51
= 9
