A magnesium ribbon is burnt in oxygen to give a white compound . If burning ribbon now placed in an atmosphere of nitrogen, it continues to burnt and form a compound why?
1. Write the chemical formula of X and Y.
2. Write a balanced chemical equation when X is dissolved in water.​

the compound 'Y' is magnesium nitrate and it's chemical formula is Mg3N2.

MgO + H2O gives Mg(OH)2
