1. Androcles was ordered to fight a huge lion. He was sad and sure he would be killed by the lion. Crowds of Romans came to see the fight. The lion came roaring out of his cage. He looked fierce. Androcles did not show any fear. He stood bravely and faced him. As the lion came nearer, the people became excited. The heart of Androcles beat faster. Suddenly the lion stopped roaring. Instead of attacking Androcles, he crouched at his feet and began to lick his hands. Androcles threw his arms around the lion's neck and embraced him. It was the same lion with whom Androcles had lived in the cave for long.
