Answer:

a man 160cm tall is at a distance of600cm from the foot of a source of light situated at the top of a pole 4.1m high.find the distance of top of man from the source of light

height of man

AB = 160 cm

DE =160 cm

 Total height of the pole

= 4.1 m = 410 cm

CE = CD – DE

= 410 – 160

= 250 cm

In Δ AEC, by Pythagoras theorem

AC2 = CE2 + AE2

= 2502 + 6002

= 62500 + 360000

= 422500

∴ AC = 650 cm
