Here is your answer ...

x = daughter's age now
4x = man's age now

x + 16 = daughter's age in 16 years
4x + 16 = man's age in 16 years

2(x + 16) = 4x + 16 {in 16 years he will be twice as old as his daughter}
2x + 32 = 4x + 16 {used distributive property}
2x = 16 {subtracted 2x and 16 from each side}
x = 8 {divided each side by 2}

Present age of daughter is 8 years.

Hope it helps you ....

Let the daughter's age be x

So , the man is 4 times
then , 4x

after 16 years , the man became twice of her age .

So, 4x+16=2(x+16)
4x+16=2x+32
4x-2x=32-16
2x=16
x=16÷2
x=8
.
. . daughter's age is = 8

Checking
= If daughter's age 8
man age = 8×4
= 32
after 16 years = 8+16 =24
32+16=48
48÷24=2
So proofed .
