A man and a woman are happily married for two years now. The woman is older to
the man by three to four years and is the senior earning member of the family with
the man being a freelance writer. They have no children, just as yet.
The woman is happy to spend from her pocket as long as the man satisfies her
sexually and fulfils her sexual needs, but, as soon as the man says – “No” to her
sexual demands, she gets very much upset and steams out of the house like a
wounded tigress.
Gradually, it became an everyday affair and finally, the man could take it no longer.
On one hand, his income was low and on the other hand, his better-half was
constantly nagging and rebuking him. His health was also not getting any better as
he began to avoid lunch for lack of peace at home. One day, he told the woman –
“Look! It’s okay that you are earning more than me. But, it is I who is taking care of
all the household chores as well as bringing daily bread etc. from the market. You
are simply enjoying life having no regard for me and my feelings. So, it would be
better that we separate.”
The woman said – “Okay! If you want it this way, let it be so.” Thereupon, she
forcibly proceeded to put a lock on the premises and went to her parents’ house. The
man pleaded with the woman – “Where shall I live? Please let me stay on and in
case you want a divorce, I shall even somehow try to pay you the alimony even
though you are not entitled to it as there is no issue out of our wedlock and secondly,
you are a past divorcee as well, and finally, you are earning enough as a
government employee while I am out of regular work.”
The woman refused to listen to her husband’s repeated pleas and even threatened
to call in the police in case he tried to open the lock. Gradually, the news of the rift
and the split spread far and wide in the neighbor-hood but none of them came to the
rescue of the beleaguered man. Either they were afraid of the police or took sides
with the woman due to her sensuality and riches
