let x, y are the number of dozens of apples and bananas

=> x + y = 50 .(1)

and a, b are the price of apples and banana for dozen

=> ax + by = 1050 . (2)

since the cost of apple = no of dozens of bananas & vice versa, we have x = b and y = a

So, the equation (2) becomes 2xy = 1050

xy = 525 ..(3)

by solving 1 & 3, we get

x & y = 35, 15
