Therefore tea should be sold at the rate 35 Rs/kg so that the profit may be Rs. 450.

Given : A man bought a chest of tea containing 90 kg for Rs. 2700.

To find : At what rate per kg should it to be sold so that the profit may be Rs. 450.

solution : we know, profit = selling price - cost price

here cost price = 2700 Rs.

profit = 450 Rs.

so, selling price = profit + cost price

= 2700 + 450

= 3150 Rs.

rate of tea per kg = selling price of tea/total weight of tea

= 3150/90

= 315/9

= 35 Rs/kg

Therefore tea should be sold at the rate 35 Rs/kg so that the profit may be Rs. 450.
