  • The profit percentage the man makes is equal to 20% .

Given :-

  • A man bought a dozen eggs for = Rs. 25
  • He sold a pair of eggs for = Rs. 5

To Find :-

  • Total profit % he makes ?

Formula used :-

  • When selling price (SP) is greater than cost price (CP) , the seller has profit .
  • Profit % = (Profit in Rs. × 100) ÷ CP .
  • 1 dozen = 12 items .
  • 1 pair = 2 items .

Solution :-

given that,

→ cost price of 1 dozen eggs = Rs. 25

so,

→ cost price of 12 eggs = Rs. 25 ----- Equation (1)

and,

→ selling price of a pair of eggs = Rs. 5

so,

→ selling price of 2 eggs = Rs. 5

then,

→ selling price of 1 egg = Rs. (5/2)

→ selling price of 12 eggs = (5/2) × 12 = Rs. 30 ----- Equation (2)

as we can see that,

→ selling price of 12 eggs > cost price of 12 eggs

therefore,

→ Total profit = selling price of 12 eggs - cost price of 12 eggs

→ Total profit = 30 - 25

→ Total profit = Rs. 5

hence,

→ Profit % = (Total profit × 100) ÷ cost price of 12 eggs

→ Profit % = (5 × 100) ÷ 25

→ Profit % = 500 ÷ 25

→ Profit % = 20% (Ans.)
