Given:

A man bought a house for Rs 5 lakhs.

Repairs = 12.5% of each month's rent.

Annual taxes = Rs 1660.

Realizes 10% on his investment.

To find:

Monthly rent of the house.

Solution:

  • Let the annual rent be Rs. x.
  • According to the question,
  • Annual rent - ( 12.5% of Annual rent + Annual taxes ) = 10% of investment.
  • On substituting all the values, we get:
  • x - ( \frac{25}{2}×\frac{1}{100}× x + 1660) = \frac{10}{100} × 500000
  • On solving the above equation, we get:
  • x = Rs 59040.
  • Monthly rent = Annual rent ÷ 12 months
  • Monthly rent = \frac{59040}{12} = Rs 4920.

Therefore, the monthly rent is Rs 4920.
