Given:

  • The man bought an article for Rs. 400 and sold at a profit of 15%.

To find:

  • The percentage increase in profit if the article was sold for Rs. 480.

Solution:

Here the cost price of the article is Rs. 400.

Profit percentage is 15%.

When the article is sold for Rs. 480, the profit is

= Rs. (480 - 400)

= Rs. 80

Profit percentage is

= 80/400 * 100%

= 20%

So increase in profit percentage is

= (20 - 15)% = 5%
