A man bought bananas at the rate of 10 for 45 and sold at the rate of one dozen
bananas for 51. Find his gain or loss per cent.

sp of 12 banana =45
sp of 1 banana =51/12
=4.25
sp of 10 banana =4.25 ×10
=42.5
loss =cp -sp
=45-42.5
= 2.5
loss% =loss /cp ×100
= 2.5 /45×100
=250/45
=50 /9 %

Answer:

You are wrong.

The loss percentage = 5.5 %

Step-by-step explanation:

If the man bought 10 bananas for 45 , and sold 12 for 51.

Then ,

C.P of 10 bananas = 45

C.P of 1 banana = 45/10 = 4.5

S.P of 12 bananas = 51

S.P of 1 banana = 51/12 = 4.25

Loss = C.P - S.P

= 4.5 - 4.25

= 0.25

loss% =loss /cp ×100

= 0.25/4.5 × 100

= 5.55%
