Given data : A man bought goods worth Rs 60 he paid a sale tax at the rate of 9 percentage of his purchase.

To find : what was the total amount that man paid ?

Solution : A/C to given data;

  • Cost of goods = Rs 60
  • Rate of the sales tax = 9 %

Now, firstly we have to find out, VAT

Here, VAT stands for value added tax,

➜ VAT : VAT is commonly expressed as a percentage of the total cost.

Hence,

➜ VAT = (cost of goods/100) * rate of sales tax

➜ VAT = (60/100) * 9

➜ VAT = 0.6 * 9

➜ VAT = Rs 5.4

Now,

➜ Total amount paid by man = cost of goods + VAT

➜ Total amount paid by man = 60 + 5.4

➜ Total amount paid by man = Rs 65.4

Answer : Hence, the total amount that man paid is Rs 65.4
