Answer:

CP of 40 litres Rs.32/- SP required = Rs.40/-

He sells at Rs.35/- per 40 litres. SP per litre 35/40 =7/8. Sale 1 litre = Rs. 7/8. Hence for Rs.40/- how many litres has to be sold?

=40×8/7 =320/7 =45.71 litres have to be sold.

Therefore he adds 5.71 litres of water to get the required profit.

Answer:

cost price of milk 40 litre = Rs. 32

selling price of milk 40 litre = Rs. 35

profit -

profit = selling price - cost price

profit = Rs. 32-Rs.35

profit =Rs. 03

therefore, the profit amount is 3 Rs.
