Out of some apples bought by man 13% were rotten, 75% were sold off the balance and left with 261 then the no. of apples he originally had is 1200.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let originally the no. of apples be “x”.

It is given 13% of the original no. of apples were rotten

So, the % of apples left with the man now will be = 100 – 13 = 87%

Also given that, out of 87%, 75% of the apples were sold by the man

So, the final % of the apples left will be = 25% of 87%

But the final balance left is given as 261 apples.

Therefore, we can write the eq. as,

\frac{25}{100} * \frac{87}{100} * x = 261

⇒ x = \frac{261 * 100 * 100}{25 * 87}

⇒ x = \frac{2610000}{2175}

x = 1200

Thus, the man originally had 1200 apples.
