h = horses
c = cows
4h + 9c = 1340 -------- (i)
4(10/100 h) + 9(20/100 c) = 188

0.4h + 1.8c = 188 -------- (ii)
Solving (i) and (ii) simultaneously

4h + 9c = 1340 -------- (i)

9c = 1340 – 4h
c = (1340 – 4h)/9
Substitute in (ii)

0.4h + 1.8(1340 – 4h)/9  = 188 -------- (ii)

3.6h + 1.8(1340 – 4h) = 1692
3.6 h - 7.2h  + 2412 = 1692
-3.6h = -720
h = 200
He paid Rs. 200 for the horse

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

h = horses

c = cows

4h + 9c = 1340 -------- (i)

4(10/100 h) + 9(20/100 c) = 188

0.4h + 1.8c = 188 -------- (ii)

Solving (i) and (ii) simultaneously

4h + 9c = 1340 -------- (i)

9c = 1340 – 4h

c = (1340 – 4h)/9

Substitute in (ii)

0.4h + 1.8(1340 – 4h)/9 = 188 -------- (ii)

3.6h + 1.8(1340 – 4h) = 1692

3.6 h - 7.2h + 2412 = 1692

-3.6h = -720

h = 200

He paid Rs. 200 for the horse
