Loss percentage is 5.56%.

  • A man bought at a rate of 10 for Rs.45.

Cost price of 10 objects = Rs. 45

Cost price of 1 object = Rs. 4.5

  • Now selling price of one dozen = Rs. 51

Selling price of 1 object = Rs. 51/12

Selling price of 1 object = Rs. 4.25

  • As the selling price is less than the cost price, it is a loss.

Loss percentage = \frac{Loss}{Cost \ price} × 100

Loss = Cost price - Selling price = 4.5 - 4.25 = 0.25

Loss percentage = \frac{0.25}{4.5} × 100

Loss percentage = 0.556 × 100

Loss percentage = 5.56%
