Answer:

one dozen egg =12

so,five dozen egg =12*5=60eggs

five percent of 60 eggs =3eggs

so, no. of broken eggs =3 eggs

No. of not broken eggs = 60-3=57 eggs

So, no. of eggs in dozen =4 dozen 9 eggs

so cost of eggs on Rs 36 per dozen = 36/12*57 = Rs 171

now cost of eggs on Rs 46 per dozen = 48/12*57 = Rs 228

gain money =228-171 =Rs 57

Question:

A man buys 5 dozens eggs at ₹36 per dozen. Out of which 5% got broken. He sold the remaining eggs for ₹48 per dozen. what was his total gain?

Answer:

His total gain was ₹ 48.

Given:

The man bought 5 dozens of eggs.

The C.P. of each dozens of eggs is ₹ 36.

5% of the eggs were broken.

Among the remaining eggs, each dozen was sold for ₹ 48.

To find:

The gain of the person.

Explanation:

The C.P. of 1 dozen eggs is ₹ 36.

∴ The C.P. of 5 dozens eggs = ₹ (36×5)

                                                      = ₹ 180.

∴ Total C.P. is ₹ 180.

1 dozen = 12.

∴ 5 dozens of eggs = (12×5) eggs

                                = 60 eggs.

5% of the eggs were broken.

∴ The number of the eggs were broken _

(60×\frac{5}{100}) [∵ Dividing 5 and 100 by 5.]

=(60/20)

= 3 eggs.

∴ 3 eggs were broken.

∴ The number of eggs were not broken = (60-3) eggs

                                                                    = 57 eggs

The S.P. of 12 eggs is ₹ 48.

∴ The S.P. of 1 eggs is = ₹ (48/12)

                                     = ₹ 4

∴ The S.P. of 57 eggs is = ₹ (57×4)

                                       = ₹  228

∴ Total S.P. is ₹ 228.

∴ Total gain = (S.P. - C.P.)

                    = ₹ (228-180)

                    = ₹ 48.

∴ His total gain was ₹ 48.
