A man buys 5 dozen eggs at 36 rupees per dozen. Out of which 5% got broken. He sold the remaining eggs for 48 rupees per dozen. What was his total gain?

P. of 5 dozen eggs = ₹ ( 36×5) = ₹ 180  5 dozen = 12×5= 60 eggs.   5% eggs got broken = 5                                       - - - × 60 = 3eggs                                      100 Remaining eggs = 60-3 = 57 eggs.   Therefore,  S. P. of 12 eggs = ₹48                     S. P. of 1 egg = ₹ 48÷12=₹4. S. P. of 57 eggs = ₹ ( 57×4)=₹228.  Total gain = S. P - C.
