Let price of horse = h
Let price of ox = o
So,
5h + 7o = 5850....(1)
Now, he sells them with profits of 10% and 16% resp, so the total profit can be written as
0.10 (5h) + 0.16 (7o) = 711
0.5h + 1.12o = 711
5h + 11.2o = 7110.....(2)
Solving (1) and (2) we get
11.2o - 7o = 7110 - 5850
4.2o = 1260
o = 300
So, 5h + 7(300) = 5850
5h = 5850 - 2100
h = 3750/5 = 750
Therefore, horse and ox costs 750 and 300 resp.
Let price of ox = o
