In the above Question , the following information is given -

A man buys a box of fruits containing 286 fruits.

Out of these, 1/2 of the fruits are apples and rest are pears .

4/13 of the pears are rotten.

He sells the good pears at Rs 4 each .

To find -

How much money does he receive on selling good pears ?

Solution -

Here ,

A man buys a box of fruits containing 286 fruits.

Out of these, 1/2 of the fruits are apples and rest are pears .

So , number Of apples In the box

=> { 1 / 2 } th of 286

=> 143 .

So ,

There are 143 apples in the box .

But , there a total number of 286 fruits in the box .

So ,

Number Of pears ;

=> Total number of fruits - Number of apples

=> 286 - 143

=> 143 pears .

Thus , there are 143 pears in the box .

Now ,

4/13 of the pears are rotten.

Number of rotten pears -

=> { 4 / 13 } the of the total number of pears

=> { 4 / 13 } the of 143

=> { 4 × 11 }

=> 44 .

So ,

44 pears among them are rotten .

Number of good pears -

=> Total number of pears - Number of rotten pears

=> 143 - 44

=> 99 .

Hence , there are 99 good pears with him .

Now ,

He sells the good pears at Rs 4 each .

So ,

Money earned for each pear -

=> Rs. 4

Money earned for 99 pears -

=> Rs. 99 × 4

=> Rs. 396 .

Hence , he earns a total of Rs. 396 .
