I assume you mean 1 pen each @Rs.9 and Rs.10

He hence pays Rs. 19 for 2 pens.

he sells @ Rs. 15

hence he makes a net loss of Rs.4.00

In % this is approx 21% loss.

The number of bananas sold = 135

Explanation:

Given : A man buys bananas at 5 for a rupee.

i.e.  Cost of 5 bananas = Re 1

Then,   Cost of one banana = Re  \dfrac{1}{5}

Selling price of 9 bananas = Rs 2

Selling price of one banana = Rs \dfrac{2}{9}

Gain on one banana =  Selling price - Cost price of one banan

= \dfrac{2}{9}-\dfrac{1}{5}=\dfrac{10-9}{45}=\dfrac{1}{45}

Number of bananas need to sold to gain Rs 3 =  (Rs 3) ÷ (Gain on one banana )

= 3\div\dfrac{1}{45}

=3\times45=135

So , the number of bananas sold = 135
